For sale is a vintage German-made Dual CS-505 turntable, built during vinyl’s heyday!

The original CS-505 was released in 1981 and was recently recognised as one of the 16 best turntables of What Hi-Fi's lifetime

In the Dual 505, a great deal of technical expertise has been applied to acoustically decouple the entire turntable drive unit from the remainder of the casing. As a result, external interference is filtered out so effectively that it no longer has any audible effect on the music reproduction. The acoustic pattern remains clear, especially in the low and middle frequency ranges, which are particularly susceptible to muddying from external causes.

A great feature of this turntable is that when it reaches the end of the record the tone arm lifts and it turns off. This ensures no unnecessary damage or wear to your records or stylus.

Being counter balanced in every plane, the tone arm tracks almost “masslessly.” and therefore always produces the same good results, whether or not the turntable is perfectly level. Other benefits are greater immunity to external noise, audibly reduced harmonic distortion and longer stylus and record life.

The anti-resonance mat used on the CS 505 filters and counteracts resonances which can be transmitted through the record player to the record.

The 304mm platter is driven by a Dual 16-pole synchronous motor with precision flat belt for driving the platter

It's in good physical condition (with just a few marks on the dust cover) and works perfectly and I've also upgraded the original plinth with real timber veneer.

It comes with a copy of the user manual….and a Ortofon TKS 55E cartridge with Dual elliptical diamond stylus …..so it’s all ready to spin!

This is a nice vintage table that will run circles around most modern offerings (costing several times more)
