In RTL Winter Sports 2010 players get to take part in a variety of gruelling events of their choice such as boardercross, ski flying, Alpine skiing, freeride skiing, short-track speed skating, figure skating, bobsledding, and biathlon. Players of RTL Winter Sports 2010 also have a complex career mode to look forward to. In the story-based career mode, players can invest any experience points they collect in improved skills and equipment for their characters, and work their way up from beginner level to keeping pace with world-class athletes. All of this takes place within a gripping story in which the player takes part in 16 competitions against four national teams.

The game features five game modes: career, cup, single course, campaign and multiplayer, with four difficulty levels: easy, normal, hard, extreme. The story-based career mode features role-playing elements, special skills, and upgrades, as well as 44 exciting challenges.

The multiplayer mode features online and split-screen modes (for up to four players), with the online mode having a world-wide ranking system.
