In a world of myth and magic, only one being stands between the powers of darkness and the extinction of an entire race. Orcs plague his kind and destroy his land. After a lengthy series of Might and Magic games, 3DO should know a thing or two about the RPG genre, and having released all those Army Men games, the company also has plenty of experience with the action game. So why not combine the two to create the ultimate 3DO playing experience? Well, now it’s here, in the form of Dragon Rage for PlayStation 2.

Today’s new enemies are the Orcs, evil pig-like animals bent on harnessing powerful magic for selfish means. But the most powerful source of magic comes from the global population of Dragons, and the only practical way was to acquire such goodness from these fire-breathing myths is to slay them. But you’re a dragon, a good dragon, and the slaughterhouse is the last place you want to go. After a near brush with death, you must use your cunning and magic to survive the Orc’s attacks and banish them from the land for good.

Fifteen huge main levels make up the complete single player game, each with several objectives to fulfil. There are eight game environments, all rendered in glorious 3D and with a superior level of detail to any 3DO game that has gone before it. As a Dragon, you are free to fly through most of the levels at will and perform 20 acrobatic moves to evade the 40 or so different types of enemy units.

Boasting full scene anti-aliasing, a complex physics engine for onscreen special effects and a unique animation system, Dragon Rage is one of the PlayStation 2’s better looking and more involving fantasy adventure games.
