The soft mod has the advantage that nothing has been changed in the hardware or NAND memory.

The console has a 4GB NAND (Winchester board) with the original untouched operating system. With a USB stick and additional hard drive, it is a hacked box with all the options of a JTAG/RGH box (no patching necessary anymore) without the Stick and the harddrive, it is just an original Xbox 360 with unrestricted Live capability.

The disadvantage is that the hack sometimes takes a relatively long time – a hardmodded Xbox (at least with RGH3) always starts immediately.
