A pretty looking low growing leafy vegetable. It is dark green with green flat rosetta leaves & a green stem. The flavour is mild & sweet. Delicious as baby leaf in salads, stir fries, soups & cooking. Popular in oriental cuisine. A good source of iron & Vitamins A, C & K. Low in calories. Great for weight loss.

The plant is hardy & disease resistant. It tolerates different soils & climatic variations. Can be harvested at any stage. Pick leaves as required. Keep well watered. Plants tend to grow more upright in warm weather & flatter to the ground in cooler weather.

• Do direct sowing at 6 mm depth.
• Position: Part or full sun, well drained soil.
• Sow in Spring, Early summer, Late Summer & Early Autumn.

• Distance apart for seedlings: 15cm.
• Best temperature for germination:10-25°C
