LEMONGRASS seeds (Tender Perennial)

It is a lovely Asian origin grass with a strong lemon flavoured divine aroma. It is used for food flavouring, perfumes & a refreshing tea, The lemongrass oil has medicinal, soothing, calming & anti-inflammatory properties.

Only lightly cover seeds to germinate. Transplant out as clumps after 2 months so that they bulk up first. It is easy to grow, as long as kept out of frost & cold. You can divide clumps & transplant in late Spring & Summer in order to increase the grass-growing area. Plants will winter over in warmer areas.

Press the seeds gently 5mm into pre-moistened seed starting mix. Use seedling trays with plastic domes or containers sealed inside large plastic bags. Keep seed trays or containers in a dark room or cupboard. The trick is to maintain a moist, not wet, environment. Once seedlings appear, remove the dome or plastic bag and move them into full sun.

For refreshing lemongrass tea, split a leaf to expose oil capillaries & pour boiling water. Let rest for several minutes & enjoy the drink!
