Description

I do my best to present every piece with honesty—captured from multiple angles and under different lighting—so what you receive feels just as beautiful in person, if not more.

I would like to explain the origin of greenstone bangles to potential buyers. I know everyone prefers authentic Pounamu bangles, yet I have to be candid that genuine Pounamu bangles are rarely available at low prices on the market. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, crafting a bangle calls for a substantial piece of raw stone. The material loss rate is considerable, and the stone has to be intact with sufficient thickness.

Secondly, polishing bangles costs a great deal in New Zealand. The processing fee alone can reach hundreds of New Zealand dollars.

For this reason, most greenstone bangles you come across are manufactured overseas with imported greenstone materials. Even at overseas workshops, the workmanship cost for a single bangle stands at $50. Taking raw material expenses, delivery fees and taxes into account, you can work out the actual total cost.

Another reminder: some goods sold are not real nephrite jade at all. They are green agate, opalescent glass, dyed quartzite and other imitation materials. If you find greenstone bangles with overly even colour and surprisingly low price, you need to stay vigilant. 100 % Nephrite Greenstone Bangle

  • Hi there, I am interested in buying a nz pounamu bangle in solid dark green color. 53mm in inner diameter. 0.8 or 1cm in thick , 1.5 or 1.8 cm in Width. wonder how much does it cost pls? Thnx li168 (492)1:48 pm, Fri, 22 May Unfortunately, I don’t currently have a Pounamu bangle in that size. To be honest, most bangles on the market are made from overseas greenstone. The main reason is that New Zealand local carvers do not commonly make bangles, and there also isn’t a large supply of intact raw material suitable for carving them. kxy1092 (439) • 2:34 pm, Fri, 22 May
