Description

Brand name: ARIA (PRO II) Product: acoustic guitars Dates of manufacture: 1976 to 1981 The Aria Paul Brett guitars were the signature model of the 12 string legend Paul Brett. The design of these Japansese made dreadnoughts derives from Aria's popular AW30 model, with changes suggested by Brett himself.

The Paul Brett models have a dreadnought body shape, with solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides and marquetry purfling. The rosewood fingerboard is inlayed with elongated maple position markers. The headstock as a "Paul Brett" logo and gold plated machine heads. Brett hand signed every label.

The six string version sold for £229.90 and the 12 string for £247.80 in 1981. Secondhand values now are much higher (upwards of £700?). The late 1970s and early 1980s was a time when some great guitars were coming out of Japan: Guitar magazine rated the Paul Brett model as one of Aria's best ever acoustic guitar models

  • What would it cost to ship this to Ak through the trademe courier service please? w*******7 (1173)07:03 am, Fri, 26 Apr 48 NZD North island + 5 if rural 88 NZD Sourh Usland + 5 if rural, thanks GW telecaster89 (108) • Friday, 26 April 2024
  • Thanks for that. What's the action like at the 12th fret? w*******7 (1173)04:45 pm, Fri, 26 Apr Feels great to me, but I rarely go that far up. I’ve added a couple of photos to hopefully better answer your question telecaster89 (108) • Friday, 26 April 2024
  • Really appreciate you taking the time to do that. The action looks pretty high but that appears to be due to some bellying around the bridge which I can easily fix. How much were you hoping to get for it? I love these Matsumoku era Arias but have never had this model. Would love to see what its like. w*******7 (1173)05:02 pm, Fri, 26 Apr It’s a very special guitar, beautiful mellow sound, I have no idea what I’d get for it, it’s right up there with Martin which I’m also thinking of selling. I’ve added a few more photos of serial Number and model number to help date. I want it to go to a good home, it’s not been played for a while. telecaster89 (108) • Friday, 26 April 2024
  • The 1st or second number on the 6 digit serial number on the back brace sometimes denotes the year but is not always guaranteed. Possibly a 76'. The neck block is more like a part number than a date stamp. Is there a sticker inside? The model number on these sometimes correlated to its price in Yen but being a signature model it might not have a sticker or model number? w*******7 (1173)05:18 pm, Fri, 26 Apr No sticker inside sadly, thanks for the info, very interesting telecaster89 (108) • Friday, 26 April 2024
  • I'm really keen but I think if I make an offer it will be based on the fact that I think it requires some work to be comfortable to play, I can't diagnose the high action with certainty without seeing it first and I have to factor in the shipping. I think the fairest thing I can do is bid and hope for the best so I don't offend with an offer below what you were hoping for. Thanks so much for your time with all the questions. w*******7 (1173)05:43 pm, Fri, 26 Apr I won’t be offended at all, I just have no idea what it’s worth, though I’m the UK they have gone for well over a thousand dollars, but the market is different here. Not convinced it will need any work (apart from a fresh set of strings). Even at the 12th fret, I find the action comfortable. It’s beautiful in the lower frets. I’ve been thinking of selling for years just couldn’t face it when it came down to it. It just has something magical about it in my eyes. Good luck with the bidding telecaster89 (108) • Friday, 26 April 2024
