Series Overview
Back Arrow (2021) is an original Japanese anime produced by Studio VOLN, directed by Goro Taniguchi and written by Kazuki Nakashima.
Set in Lingalind, a continent surrounded by a massive wall worshipped as a god, the story centers on two rival powers: the diplomatic Republic of Lutoh and the militaristic Empire of Rekka. The nations battle over mysterious monthly capsules called Rakuho, which contain supplies and devices known as Bind Warpers. These armbands summon giant mechs called Briheights, whose powers are fueled by a person’s “Conviction.”
When a second, unusual Rakuho lands in a remote village, it reveals an amnesiac young man claiming to be from “beyond the wall.” Naming himself Back Arrow, he sets out to uncover his origins, becoming entangled in the escalating war between the two nations.
Plot (Part 1) Crash landing without clothes or memories, Back Arrow sets out to return to his home beyond the World Wall. However, his arrival puts the small village of Edger at the center of a war. Now, he must fight back using a mecha powered by personal convictions.
