Description
These guitars are becoming extremely rare, it is even rarer to find one in such beautiful condition. Perfect guitar for the performer, collector and the investor.
I am the third owner of this instrument. Purchased from an American guitarist, who purchased it from the original owner in the 70s.
Guitar has never had a neck reset - just very well looked after. There are two cracks on the top that have been repaired and cleated a very long time ago and stable.
Recently had a set up by T R Crandall Guitars in New York - Wonderful action and intonation. Action is just shy of 4mm at 12th fret. Words cannot do this neck justice - just play one open chord, and the instrument will speak to you.
Originally made for gut/nylon strings, however the X bracing will comfortably withstand light steel strings. (Currently set up with hard tension Nylon strings).
48mm (1 7/8") width nut - my favourite feature of this instrument. Slightly wider than the typical acoustic guitar, but narrower than a traditional classical. Perfect for the finger style / gypsy jazz guitarist - wide enough for intricate lines, narrow enough for chunky chorcs and wrapping your thumb around!
This guitar sounds hauntingly good. While the small 0 - body gives a mature, round nuanced sound with great projection, the extremely light construction gives it the kind of resonance and bottom end that you really feel inside your belly.
Adirondack spruce top, brazilian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, friction ivory tuning pegs (works fantastic - easy to use), ivory heel cap, individually tuned ivory and pearl bridge pins, herringbone and ivory binding (cracks) - All original - nothing missing or replaced.
Hard case included (Not original)
I will include video clip of me playing this guitar soon. But this guitar really likes to expose me for the fraud I am, so please be patient.
Currently the guitar is in Christchurch, but will be visiting Auckland in July. Happy to organise viewings in either city.
