Meet Patrick, he is a 3 year old Siberian Husky. True to his breed, Patrick is an active dog who requires daily exercise and if not entertained by his owner, will find his own way to entertain himself as Huskies tend to do.
For this reason, we’re ideally looking for a home who has or has had Huskies before and understands the requirements of the breed and has suitable fencing to contain him. (a property check will be done).
Patrick would likely be suitable to live with another dog as he’s mixed well with others in the shelter, he likes to play but runs out of steam pretty quickly as he’s a tad chunky currently at 35kg+.
Although we haven’t tested him with cats, we would not consider a home with small furry animals due to the breed generally having a high prey drive.
An ideal home for Patrick would be
- Previous husky or working-breed experience
- Active lifestyle (running, hiking, biking, or dog sports)
- Secure fencing
- Someone who is able to meet his mental needs – huskies are smart!
