Free to Good Homes – Hand-Raised Wild Rabbits
Handled Daily | Friendly & Social | Deposit Required to Hold
Availability: I have five wild rabbits available for adoption. They were orphaned and have been hand-raised from approximately 2 weeks old, making them much more used to human contact than typical wild rabbits. They have been treated the same way a domestic rabbit would be.
These rabbits will be ready for adoption around the start of January.
White rabbits: Ready early January
Other colours (add details if needed): Ready early January
About the Rabbits: Type: Wild rabbits (NZ European) Temperament: Friendly, curious, and comfortable with handling. They come up for pats and interact confidently, but they may still show some natural wild-rabbit traits, such as occasionally being a little skittish. With continued gentle handling, this behaviour should calm down over time. Diet: Hay, rabbit pellets, and fresh greens. Health: Believed to be in good health – a 48-hour vet check guarantee is available if desired.
DOC Information: I have been in contact with DOC, and permission was given for these rabbits to be rehomed and cared for as domestic rabbits. It is illegal to release them back into the wild, so they must go to homes that will keep them as domestic rabbits only.
Adoption Info: These rabbits are free, but an adoption agreement is required to ensure they go to responsible homes that understand their needs and the legal requirements. A $10 deposit is required to hold a rabbit if you are not collecting it on the same day. This deposit is non-refundable unless something happens while the rabbit is still in my care (e.g. illness or death).
Transport: I can work with pet courier services if transport is needed.
