Description
This auction is for a cup and saucer manufactured in the 1960s by Crown Lynn. It is vitrified ware and both the cup and saucer have a lovely clear mark on its base. They have a red shield with a circle in the centre with intersecting lines and in Latin underneath the words Palma Non Sine Pulvere. This is the motto of Gore High School. I haven’t been able to find this crest associated with Gore High School so it may not relate to Gore High School at all but it was the only school or business in NZ that I could find who used the motto - Palma Non Sine Pulvere.
Since I listed this duo a helpful person has told me "I think it is actually the old Christchurch West School motto which became Hagley High". I tried to do some sleuthing about Christchurch West School but haven't managed to find out much info so far. Will keep looking when I have time.
The set is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips or cracks. The cup is 6.7cm tall x 8.5cm across the top opening. It is a lovely retro shape. The saucer is 14cm across. Please see detailed photos as part of its description.
Pick up is in North New Brighton, Christchurch.
I understand life is busy but I would appreciate contact from the auction winner within five days of winning the auction, many thanks.
