We need your help. In 2017 the Government promised no more mines in conservation land. It’s now 2024, and Oceana Gold want to tear up more of the pristine Coromandel to rip out gold from underground and ship it offshore. This is a very special part of our motu. Mining it could poison the water, it could kill off a taonga species, and it will transform a rainforest into an industrial wasteland. Holidaymakers, and local people do not want heavy industry on their doorstep. The only people who want this mine are the shareholders of Oceana Gold.
