I've been having to offer for sale my small collection of Franklin Mint diecast replica models. Lovely items, beautifully produced by Franklin Mint with exacting detail - and very hard to find these days. Terrific display pieces, particularly if you are into the context of the particular model.

Because of the nature of some of them, and the risk of occasional damage in transit, SOME of these listings will be essentially aimed at WELLINGTON BUYERS who are able to pick the items up – or who have friends or relatives in or near Wellington who can do so.

This listing is for the iconic and much sought-after FRANKLIN MINT NASA APOLLO XI LUNAR MODULE 1/48 scale diecast model. Released, in association with the National Space Society, to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the 1969 first manned lunar landing, only 500 of these were made. Hand assembled from 120 different components, and some of the fabrication materials are accented with 24 karat gold and sterling silver. Comes with an octagonal moon landing platform recalling "Tranquility Base". And a specially minted 25th Anniversary medallion of solid sterling silver is set into the base.

I have the FM documentation that came with the model – an explanatory, blueprint style, leaflet (setting out the parts of the LM, and showing the mission), and the standard FM grey and white folded booklet, with information and technical specs, and the 'Certificate of Authenticity' on the back. I also have the original box and foam packing, and the instructions sheet for assembly.

In great condition, as it has just been displayed (under cover) - with no breakages or repairs, or flaws that I’m aware of – except for a very small white mark (that I’m sure can be remedied) on a corner of the base.

The model itself is 15cms high and 20cms wide, and the base is 24cms across and 3.5cms high. On the base, it’s all about 19cms high. Just beautiful! And historic!
