This beautiful, much sought after and very hard to find doll was produced by The Uneeda Doll Co Inc. exclusively for W.T. Grant’s stores in the US around 1962. Obviously, a competitor for Barbie, Miss Suzette is roughly the same height and has a similar hairstyle to the early Barbie dolls, a long ponytail and fringe (and like Barbie the hair is only rooted around the edge of the head) in brunette, blonde or red. Her body construction is very different to other similar dolls though. She has a hard hollow body that is slightly smaller than Barbie’s and softer vinyl limbs with an unusual ‘Y’ shaped hip joint. Her head is on a spring joint which allows her head to be tilted as well as rotated. She is marked © Uneeda Doll Co Inc in a circle on her back with 1962 under it.

This Suzette came to me with a bunch of other dolls all played with extensively. She had heavy marker make-up applied and her hair had been brutally cut off. So she is wearing a wig with attached pony tail hair piece. The rest of her is in surprisingly good condition.

I am selling her with some fab vintage outfits and accessories as seen in the photos. None of them are genuine Suzette but I think she suits them all.
