These are lovely NZ made Pedigree dolls. They are made in what is called hard plastic. They do not need batteries but have a mechanicial device in the body of the dolls that make a crying noise. It is not uncommon for them to wear out over time. These mechanisims can be fixed for replaced. If I lived in Auckland I'd probably purchase them from you! Please note what the lady says in Questions & answers, Im sure she is correct, I have no knowledge of dolls, except I have owned the fair doll for 65 or more years. Seller comment Monday, 20 May 2024
