Vintage 80s Backgammon, Goban & Chess Sets in a Classic Deluxe Brown Briefcase

This vintage chess and backgammon and goban set remains in very good used condition. It has a wooden case with a leatherette covering on the outside, in brown with a darker brown stripe.

There are a few minor marks to the case here and there. The case opens and closes well. The brass fittings have some tarnish and general wear - they function well.

Internally, the chessboard is made a nice wood and is removeable and the Goban board is on the reverse side of it . The backgammon surface is green felt with cream and brown leatherette playing stripes. The felt lining on the inside is in great shape.

Goban is a reinterpretation of the game of Go, also known as Weiqi or Baduk, Go is a classic Asian intellectual board game that rivals chess in terms of strategic thinking and planning complexity, yet its rules are easy to learn. You use the black and white counters to play Goban and the rules are easily found on the internet.

This vintage set is in great overall shape considering that has been in storage for years and would make a great gift and/or option for entertaining guests.

The case is 43cm long, 33.5cm deep and 6cm thick when closed.

The contents of the set have been checked and it is almost complete - as follows:

• 14 brown stones (chips) one missing but you could use one of the black & white tiles
• 15 cream stones (chips)
• 1 cream doubling cube with black numbers
• 1 blue leatherette & felt lined dice cup
• 2 white dice with black numbers
• 2 red dice with white numbers
• 16 chess pieces
• 16 chess piece
• 62 black on one side and white on the other side disks for Goban or could also be used to play droughts or backgammon or another game??
