Welcome to Epsom
Epsom, Auckland
Living in Epsom is all about enjoying a relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle with a touch of sophistication. Tree-lined streets and classic villas create a charming, established feel. Epsom is renowned for its excellent state schools, including Auckland Grammar and Epsom Girls' Grammar. Several private schools also serve the community, making it a major drawcard for families. The suburb is sprinkled with volcanic peaks turned into lush parks, making it a playground for outdoor adventures and weekend picnics. And when it comes to getting around, Epsom’s central location means you’re spoilt for choice with public transport. Buses are frequent, and if you’re in the northern zone, Grafton, Newmarket, and Remuera train stations are just a hop away.
Life in Epsom
Surrounded by volcanic cones, five kilometres north of the CBD and home to some of the city’s top performing schools, there’s good reason why Epsom is one of Auckland’s most sought after suburbs.
The suburb’s wide, leafy streets, array of parks and variety of architectural styles make it a picturesque place to call home. But it’s more than just a pretty face. In addition to its proximity to the CBD and shopping opportunities in nextdoor Newmarket, Epsom has a lot to offer its residents, including:
The ASB Showgrounds: from rock concerts to pet expos, the ASB Showgrounds is a great venue to have on your doorstep.
Cornwall Park: at 425 acres, Cornwall Park is one of central Auckland’s biggest green spaces – in fact, as you explore it, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’re still in the city at all. It’s a great place to exercise, have a picnic or bring the kids (especially during calving and lambing season, between July and September each year).
Alexandra Park Raceway: with the suburb named after the famous English horse-racing town, it’s only right that our Epsom has a track of its own. Established over 100 years ago, this is one of the city’s oldest institutions.
Film buffs will also love Lido Cinema on Manukau Road – a stylish, boutique cinema where you can enjoy movies (and an ice cream or glass of wine) in comfort.
Transport In Epsom
As one of Auckland’s central suburbs, Epsom is well served by public transport. It's easy to get from home to the CBD, or other employment areas such as Newmarket.
For some, the Remuera train station is an option. From here it’s one stop on the Western, Onehunga or Southern lines to Newmarket, and a further two to the CBD.
Popular bus routes into the city include the 30, 309, 225 and OUT links.
