Description

This is more than a house — it’s where a family grew up, year after year, season after season.

Days here were simple in the best way. Kids roaming the village, swimming when the tide was right, learning to fish — flounder, kahawai, and whitebait if you knew where to look. The kind of upbringing that feels a little rare now.

The home itself has evolved with those years. A three-bedroom layout with a family bathroom and separate toilet keeps things practical, while the open plan kitchen, dining and living space is where it all comes together — flowing straight out to the front deck, where those Lake Onoke views become part of everyday life.

As the kids grew into teenagers, the home stretched to fit. Downstairs became their space — a rumpus area for hanging out, alongside a woodstore and shed that have supported years of coastal living.

Weekends meant beachcombing — pockets filled with shells, stones, driftwood, and the odd bit of fishing gear washed ashore. Evenings slowed right down, with board games, card games, and stories shared after long days outdoors.

Out the back, another deck created the perfect spot for entertaining, long dinners, and unwinding after a day exploring. There’s even a boat shed, ready for early starts on the water or spontaneous missions to make the most of it.

And always, the backdrop… Views stretching across Lake Onoke, and in winter, all the way to the snow-capped Kaikoura ranges. The western shoreline alive with spray when the wind picks up. And sunsets that stop you in your tracks.

After days spent fishing, or trips out to Ngawi and the Cape Palliser Lighthouse, this was the place to come home to — warm, welcoming, and full of life.

Now, it’s ready for its next chapter.
