Description
Drinking Horns were one of the first drinking vessels developed by humankind and were used throughout history right up until modern times.
Ideal for beer festivals, historical reenactment, live action role play or just something unique to drink from.
This is one of our more popular horns. It has a brass finial on the end and an etched brass band around the opening.
We can source a wide variety of different sized drinking horns made from cow horn. The horn is sourced from domestic cattle which is inspected by the MPI on arrival in New Zealand.
As horns are natural products they all will differ in shape and colour to some degree to the one illustrated. The horn is approximately 30 cm long and has a capacity of approximately 300 ml.
The horns have been boiled and cleaned thoroughly, waterproofed with a food grade varnish and then polished. So you can drink out of them straight away although we recommend a quick rinse with warm water before you use them for the first time to remove any residue from the manufacturing process. The horn may have a slight pungent smell which is from the food grade varnish. It will fade with washing and use and does not affect the taste of whatever drink is in it.
Each horn comes with a unique hand forged iron stand to allow it to be stood upright on a bench, table or on the ground.
Also cleaning your drinking horn with some form of natural oil occasionally will increase its life.
Prices include GST and delivery within New Zealand.
