This 1909 TEXACO " ONE US GALLON " TIN is in Great Condition for its age.

Regrettfully Selling. This would be the Earliest Tin I have. This Tin dates back to when the Motorcar was first being invented by Hundreds & Hundreds of Manufacturers This Tin relates more to the Horse Hardware being " Harness Oil " .

When i purchased this Tin it was Caked with a thick layer of Oily Crud on top of the Tin as Well as the Screwtop Pourer that is marked 1909. All i cleaned was the Top of tin working within the parameters of the Tins Top Edge. What i ended up with is what you see in the Photo's. Yes a Stunning Clean Top & also the Revelled 1909 Writing on top of the Lid. There was no handle on top of this Tin. I am unsure what it would have looked like but i think origionally there must have been something.

All i did with the 4 Sides was use Soupy Warm Water & a Soft Rag. What you see now is still a film of 100 year buidup base of Oil. I'm sure someone out there who will end up owning this tin will know how to clean it to the next stage. It scares me to even muck around with it as I will be gutting if i wore out any of the Historic Labelling that adorns this Tin at Present.
