Here is your chance to purchase an original part from a NZR Steam Locomotive. This is an auction for the original Smokebox off Steam Locomotive 'Ww 480'.

'Ww' 480 is located at the Auckland based Glenbrook Vintage Railway and is currently undergoing a major rebuild. Part of this rebuild has seen the society purchase a brand new boiler for the locomotive which includes a new smokebox.

Therefore, the old smokebox which the locomotive has had fitted since 1951 is now surplus to our requirements and is available for sale.

Overall diameter measures to be around 1200mm. It is about 1300mm in length. It has various cut-outs and holes from where it sat on the smokebox saddle on the locomotive and where other components were fitted. Steel plate of the smokebox is around 8mm in thickness.

Unsure of actual weight of this smokebox. As is where is condition.

Successful buyer would either need to pick-up themselves or arrange a flat deck truck fitted with a crane. We have a crane onsite which we will lift onto a heavy duty trailer or flat deck truck.
