Description

As per images $1 USA Dollar.

Some purple stain on the note.

Circulated condition (2003 series)

The United States one-dollar bill ($1) is a denomination of United States currency.

An image of the first U.S. President (1789–97), George Washington, based on a painting by Gilbert Stuart, is currently featured on the obverse (front), and the Great Seal of the United States is featured on the reverse (back).

The one-dollar bill has the oldest overall design of all U.S. currency currently being produced (The current two-dollar bill obverse design dates from 1928, while the reverse appeared in 1976).

The obverse design of the dollar bill seen today debuted in 1963 (the reverse in 1935) when it was first issued as a Federal Reserve note.

Paper type: 75% cotton 25% linen

Years of printing: 1929 – present

N.B The image of the bank note in a frame is for display idea purposes only and not included in the auction.

Federal Reserve Notes are legal tender, with the words "this note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" printed on each note.

They have replaced United States Notes, which were once issued by the Treasury Department. Federal Reserve Notes are backed by the assets of the Federal Reserve Banks, which serve as collateral under Section 16.

These assets are generally Treasury securities which have been purchased by the Federal Reserve through its Federal Open Market Committee in a process called debt monetizing.

This monetized debt can increase the money supply, either with the issuance of new Federal Reserve Notes or with the creation of debt money (deposits).

This increase in the monetary base leads to a larger increase in the money supply through fractional reserve banking as deposits are lent and re-deposited where they form the basis of further loans.

Great small Fathers day/Birthday/Christmas gift idea or for someone interested in collecting foreign currency.
