If you've been to a proper Chinese restaurant - not just your local chippie! - you would likely have seen spoons very similar to this one still in use. Why change the design of something that works very well?

Only this one is just a little bit older, dating from, I've been told, the Ch'Ing dynasty which puts it around 1820 - 1840 or so.

The distinctive blue and white glaze is full of the small iron spots that typifies this type of pottery from this period. It's in excellent condition although there is a small chip on the edge on one side where the handle meets the bowl.

A really good example of a neat piece of period Chinese 'cutlery' :-) It measures 110mm in length.
