Description

While striking two cent coins for New Zealand's decimal changeover back in 1967, the Royal Mint accidentally paired a New Zealand obverse two cent die with a Bahama Islands five cent die, creating what is known as the 'Bahamas Mule'. An unusual mint mistake that became known worldwide. Offered here is an example of this curious error coin - details clear enough although some staining, mainly on the obverse. A great talking point.
