The word “Mamluk” actually translates to “one who is owned”, e.g. a slave/ slave soldier. And while the “Mamluk” people may have come from humble beginnings. - With a long-varied history spanning a thousand years, they achieved many great feats including seizing power from their rulers and forming their own dynasties.

Here we have a Mamluk sword. This style would have been carried by Mamluk soldiers around the late 1700s early 1800s in Egypt.

The Mameluk Shamshir, features a large, curved carbon steel blade with a wide fuller running down most of the blade. The hilt construction is in solid cast brass with a natural timber grip, triple pinned. Completed with a timber – leather bound scabbard in brass trim with brass hanging eyes.

Comes standard with fine, blunt edge. Can be sharpened for an additional charge.
