Awesome Ultra Rare Very Large Japanese Akasuke Cloisonne Vase by the master Kumeno Teitaro. There is an impressed mark on the base "Made in Japan" along with his signature. His signature is very clear under high magnification (it is a very small mark and difficult to photograph). The vase is in very nice condition for its age with just minor scuffs and wear (rims show age wear and corrosion as expected).

The Akasuke work is excellent, with designs all the way around the vase and filling up all areas of the vase. A gorgeous piece on display.

Akasuke - Known in Europe as Basse-taille (French: “low-cut”); an enameling technique in which a metal surface, is engraved or carved in low relief and then covered with translucent vitreous enamel.

The vase measures about 30.4cm high (about 12 inches high) x 16cm wide and weighs about 1.54kg unpacked.
