This is an ANTIQUE mechanical coin bank or "Money Box" manufactured by well-known Walsall iron-founder Sydenham & McOustra Limited which started at Beacon Foundry, Beacon Street, Walsall in about 1900.

The firm specialised in light castings for electrical engineering companies, & the textile trade

The foundry was slightly unusual in that as well as producing a range of castings for its customers, it also produced a range of finished goods including small carpenter's tools, adhesive & tape dispensers, toys, & money boxes

The up-to-date factory included a rest room, & shower baths for the employees

Their banks are generally identified by the very distinctive pattern of HOLES in their back, head, & base, as on this example

The holes undoubtedly saved metal in production, but also allowed the children who owned & used these banks, to SEE their $$$$ savings increasing :-)
