1926 George V Sterling Silver Capstan Inkwell – Clan Kinnear

A genuine antique English sterling silver inkwell with a distinct Scottish connection. This "Capstan" style inkwell features the crest and motto of the Scottish Clan Kinnear: a crescent moon rising from a cloud with the Latin motto "Renovate Animos" (Renew Your Courage/Spirits).

Hallmarks: Clearly stamped with the Lion Passant (Sterling), Anchor (Birmingham), and the date letter 'B' for 1926.

Style: Classic broad-based "Capstan" design, popular in the George V era for its stability on a writing desk.

Construction: Weighted base (silver shell over a plaster/composite core).

Condition Report: This piece is being sold in "honest, as-found" condition and is priced accordingly:

Liner: The original glass ink liner is missing.

Body: There are several small dents and signs of use typical for a 100-year-old desk item.

Base: The felt covering on the underside has worn away, exposing the weighted filler material (see photos).

Hinge: Lid hinge is functioning correctly.
