Don Neilson ''Reflections Lake Matheson'' Fox Glacier, South Island Oil in good condition

Lake Matheson is a small glacial lake in South Westland, New Zealand, near the township of Fox Glacier. It was a traditional food-gathering place for local Maori. An easy walking track circles the lake, which is famous for its reflected views of Aoraki / Mount Cook and Mount Tasman.

WELL KNOWN NZ ARTIST

Neilson, Don R, 1924-2013 New Zealand artist based in Wellington, known for his landscapes in oil, charcoal, ink and pencil. Also a published author on art subjects. Painted in Antarctica as a guest of the United States Government and represented New Zealand in an exhibition arranged by UNESCO held in Paris. Two of his books have been published by Reeds. Lived in Wairarapa in 1973.
