Description
RED ARROWS by Ray Hanna photographs by Arthur Gibson. Hard back with dust jacket, 175 pages and hundreds of black and white and colour photos. Published by Photo Precision Ltd, England in 1973.
“The Red Arrows are the world’s best-known formation aerobatics team. Since they became the Royal Air Force aerobatic team in 1965, they have been seen in the flesh and on television by millions of people in the U.K., Europe and North America. Their superb flying of their scarlet Hawker Siddeley Gnat jet trainers has won the admiration of fellow pilots of all nationalities and a loyal following among the public at large.
This book tells for the first time the inside story of the Red Arrows - what it is like to fly with them, to train with them, to lead them. Its author - as Sqn Ldr Ray Hanna, AFC - was a founder-member of the team and its leader for several years. In this book, he gives the first truly authoritative account of the specialised art of jet formation aerobatics, lavishly illustrated with the pictures of the only photographer ever to be made an honorary member of the Red Arrows, Arthur Gibson." - inside book jacket.
Ray Hanna was of course a New Zealander and a well known pilot of New Zealand Warbirds in later years after his retirement from the RAF.
This book is in very good condition with some tears and ragged edges to the dust cover. There is a small sticker in the top corner of the first page (blank) with a previous owner’s name on it. An incredible photo montage book filled with a fascinating history.
