Description
This is an auction for P.O.W. - ONE GIRL'S EXPERIENCE IN A JAPANESE P.O.W. CAMP, By Gerarda Bossard.
"Gerarda Bossard was in her early teens in 1943 when the Japanese army swarmed through the Dutch East Indies and took her, along with her mother and two sisters, prisoner. For three years she suffered a painful and humiliating existence as a prisoner of war under a heartless and brutal Japanese regime. Her father, meanwhile, was also captured by the Japanese and suffered terribly. Now, over 40 years after arriving in New Zealand, she tells her story. Remarkably, virtually nothing is known about the camp and its 1700 inhabitants. Now people can judge whether calls on the Japanese government for an official apology and compensation are warranted."
