Description
1916-26- ‘Private Ledger’ for H. Archer and Sons
Archers established a Flour Mill in Southbrook (a suburb of Rangiora in North Canterbury)- this ledger is obviously from the period mid WW1 through to mid 1920’s
Calf spine and tips, marbled eps and is divided A-Z with page edge tabs. It has 250 pages and there are entries on almost every page.
Between Railway and Haulage charges, Freight, Sacks, Maintenance and Repairs, Cornsacks and Whitebags, Wheat (bought and sold), Bran, BNZ, Sharps (?), Stock etc etc as well as the partners seemingly ‘drawing down’ monies from the business on a regular basis there are numerous businesses, people (farmers mainly) and the like detailed in here. Great detailed snapshot of the time and area.
As can be seen this was a ‘working copy’ and has wear as shown but adds to the originality and scarceness of such an item.
