Black on Heavy stock paper, 80 pages approx (76 numbered + 6 at front) plus oversized cover (light brown paper, wraps over card - stapled folios.

Back cover has come away from staples - rips on spine, paper cover creased and crumpled away from solidity of contents - see photos. Some damage on a couple of ad pages at back - foxing, some minor creasing - pretty darn good condition - suitable for framing (if you dared!)

39 plates - 8 in full colour on single sided heavy stock pages Many pen and ink illustrations as well on the rag or pulp stock pages. Some paper seems to be ‘laid’ stock and others like cartridge paper. and luckily none have been cut out!!

All heavy with his trademark satyrs, nymphs, and other creatures of mythology. These caused a stir back in those ’strait-laced’ days: “…in 1930 a Norman Lindsay number of ‘Art in Australia’, containing 8 colour plates and thirty pen drawings and drypoint, and an interview with the artist by Slessor. Lindsay’s usual quota of buxom nudes attracted police attention. A summons to answer charges of indecency was served on Ure Smith and Gellert (Publishers), but after discreet intervention by the State Government the summons was dismissed by a central Court magistrate for lack of police evidence.’ (by 1934 ‘Art in Australia was owned by Fairfax!!)
