Description

Edward Arnold, London Undated, likely 1920s

Hardcover, 18x12cms, 256pp.

Part of Arnold's Literary Reading-Books series, 'for Middle Forms'. Illustrated.

Owned perhaps by an idle student as this book is clean and unmarked other than a blacked-out name on the FEP. The book comprises a lovely selection of poems and prose from classical English literature, reaching back to Bede and Geoffrey of Monmouth, and including Chaucer, Malory, Bacon, Wordsworth, Raleigh, Herrick, Milton, Defoe, Goldsmith, Boswell, Keats, Shelley, Byron, Lamb, Coleridge, Scott, Macaulay, Tennyson, Dickens, Kingsley, Browning, Darwin and others. An attractive and beautifully preserved copy.

VG condition. Textured tan boards clean with only light rubbing, some fading at spine, light scuffing. Previous owner's name blacked out with marker on FEP, otherwise unmarked, binding intact. No wrapper.

Note I use flash photography for all my book auctions but try my best to make them appear as true to life as possible.
