Residual current devices (RCDs) are an essential safety device when working with electrical appliances or power tools. They can significantly reduce the risk of electrocution or fire due to electrical faults, or accidents such as cutting a cable, by continually monitoring the current flowing through a cable and quickly shutting off the electricity flow if they detect an unusual energy path.
