With an average house price of $862,550 across the country right now, these suburbs offer far more realistic mortgage repayments if you are flexible with location. 

In first place is Taumarunui, a small town an hour and a half from Taupō. With nearly 300 listings on site right now, the average house price is $349,950

Leading the charge is Manawatū/Whanganui, which has eight suburbs in the top 20 list.

In number twenty, we have Saint Kilda in Dunedin. This beautiful beach suburb is sitting at $512,600. From this data, we can see that Aotearoa has 15 suburbs where you could buy a property for less than $500,000.
