Building product information requirements checklist

This checklist applies to Class One and Class Two products.

  • the clauses of the Building Code that are relevant to the product, within its intended scope of use
  • how the building product is expected to contribute to compliance with the relevant Building Code clauses
  • any limitations on the use of the building product
  • any design requirements that would support the appropriate use of the building product
  • any installation requirements
  • any maintenance requirements
  • a statement about whether the building product is or is not subject to a warning or ban under

If manufactured in Aotearoa New Zealand:

  • The legal and trading name of the manufacturer or manufacturers
  • The manufacturer or manufacturers’ address for service
  • The address of their public internet site (if any)
  • Their public email address (if any)
  • Their New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) (if any).

If manufactured overseas:

  • The legal and trading name of the overseas manufacturer and NZ importer
  • The overseas manufacturer's and NZ importer's address for service
  • The address of the overseas manufacturer and NZ importer's public Internet site (if any)
  • Their public email address (if any)
  • Their New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) (if any).

For class 2 products:

  • The product’s name
  • A description of the building product and its intended use
  • An identifier for the building product that distinguishes it from other building products
