Description
GENERAL "La Fayette" valve radio from mid 1960's. Manufactured by BELL RADIO IN AUCKLAND under license to General in Japan these art deco icons have become a must for serious radio collectors . Marvellous sound from the twin speaker system and a Short Wave band as an added feature. Green magic eye for really fine station tuning. Also has the ability to play a record player. Original knobs. I have owned several of this model over the years and this is one of the best i have seen. See note below.
Note: the cabinet has a small chip on the underside at the left rear, not seen from the front and the dial has a small crack just above the red power light caused by someone overtightening the mounting screw sometime in the past. The cabinet has some sun bleaching on the top but could probably be removed with a good polish with Brasso.
Radio goes really well and picks up plenty of stations.
Has circuit diagram attached to the underside of the radio.
The General/Bell brochure shown in the last 2 photos is not included in the auction
Size: 52cm long X 19cm high X 16cm deep including knobs
