For players who want quieter performance, longer lifespan, and precise control, the GamerFinger Optical Joystick PCB is a practical upgrade for the popular Sanwa JLF joystick. It’s ideal if you already own a JLF and want better responsiveness without replacing the whole unit.
Unlike traditional microswitch systems, the optical design reduces physical contact, resulting in near-silent operation and less wear over time. This helps maintain consistent performance during extended use.
Please note that this PCB is not compatible with Kowal 1mm oversized actuators or any larger actuator mods. For best results, it is recommended to use Sanwa GT-8F 4/8-way restrictor plates or GT-Y octagonal gates. Circular gates like the GT-O may reduce effectiveness.
Installation is straightforward:
Remove the square restrictor gate by pressing the side tabs and lifting it out. Take off the small metal e-clip at the bottom of the shaft. Remove the actuator and spring to access the TP-MA microswitch PCB. Remove the original PCB and install the optical PCB with the black cover facing outward. Connect the included 6-pin harness. Attach signal and ground wires to the directional inputs, either by soldering or using a solderless board. Solder the red wire to the +5V USB point on the main PCB.
