You are looking at Play Station 2 game NFL 2K3

NFL 2K3 is Sega's officially licensed American football simulation on PS2, and it's often held up as the strongest rival Madden ever faced - many football fans and critics genuinely preferred it during this era, with one longtime player calling it "better than any of the newer Madden games." If you enjoy Madden's depth but want something with a fresher broadcast presentation, this is well worth tracking down.

The newly added ESPN licence is the game's standout addition, delivering a genuine SportsCenter-style opening, distinctive menu screens and music, and dramatic in-game replays and statistical highlights that give the whole package a real television broadcast feel. Player models received a significant overhaul too, with far more animation frames capturing details like ball-stripping, one-handed tips, hurried throws, and chop blocks - subtle touches that add up to genuinely convincing on-field action.

The Franchise mode holds up well against Madden's own, letting you manage contracts, trades, and the salary cap from a coach's office, recruit college players, and even talk veterans out of retirement - a nice touch rarely seen elsewhere. AI defences react intelligently to your play-calling tendencies, shifting coverage to shut down patterns you lean on too often, which keeps repeated matches feeling fresh. Both PS2 and Xbox versions supported online play at launch, a genuinely forward-thinking feature for a football game of this era.

A must-play for football gaming historians and anyone curious about the series widely seen as Madden's finest rival. A genuine cult classic still lamented and fondly remembered by football gaming purists today.
