St John's Wort carrier oil is produced by macerating the buds and flowers of the hypericum perforatum plant in sunflower oil. The buds and flowers are left to macerate for a number of weeks and are occasionally agitated to encourage the soluble active constituents to transfer into the oil. The finished macerate is normally a bright to dark red mobile liquid at room temperature and is said to offer anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

Macerated St. John's Wort oil is an effective soothing massage oil which can either be used on its own, as part of a base oil blend or blended with essential oils. St. John's Wort is a popular ingredient for massage preparations intended to soothe and relieve inflammation.

Please note that although St. Johns Wort is widely recognised for its antidepressant qualities when taken internally, this is a carrier oil intended for external use only.
