Penstemon Firebird showy bright red bell shaped flowers bloom over a long period beginning in late spring and will continue into the summer. Upright stems with narrow, green foliage, remaining semi-evergreen in sheltered locations. This eye-catching hardy perennial has a neat, bushy habit that works well towards the front of borders. Height and spread about 60cm.
Listing is for a plant about 10 cm tall. Plants are in 9 cm pots. They are straggly and priced accordingly.
It flowers profusely in summer and autumn giving colour for at least six months. Penstemon are loved by bees. They don't even mind drought or heavy rain and are perfect for containers and borders, in sun or part sun. Frost hardy perennial. It does best in full sun but can be grown in part sun so long as it gets sun for several hours a day in summer.
