Betilla striata Chinese ground orchid or hyacinth orchid iridescent purple-pink flowers. An easy-to-care-for hardy terrestrial orchid. It produces small, cattleya-like, pinkish-purple flowers 5 cm wide, in pretty racemes of up to 12 blooms. They are part hardy and can be grown outdoors. They tolerate frost to about 15 degrees if mulched as the bulb dies down over winter. They do best in place with warm, sunny sites in summer. They spread by producing tuberous rhizomes. They do well in pots and containers or hanging baskets as well as the garden. They are drought tolerant.

Listing is for a plant with leaves 15-25 cm tall. Plants are potted in 9 cm pots.
