Erect-growing, bushy shrub or small tree. Pink new shoots mature into slender, leathery leaves. Evergreen tree that grows at a moderate rate to reach 3m high x 2m wide. It flowers in spring and can be encouraged to flower almost year round by trimming to promote new flower spikes. Prune into semi-hardwood stems to trim. It is best grown in full sun and well drained soil. It is known for its heat and sun tolerance, also frost hardy to heavy frosts in winter.
