Description
'William Guinness' is an eye catching plant, a short-spurred Aquilegia most noted for its graceful slender stems of nodding flowers each with deep black-purple petals surrounded by white central petals.
Typically growing to around 60 to 75cm tall, this clump-forming perennial has a bushy nature. The blooms appear in late spring and early summer above fern-like, mid-green leaves. The unusual flowers of this old-fashioned plant look equally at home in a cottage garden setting or in a more modern scheme with ornamental grasses. This classic cottage garden flower is particularly effective grown en masse.
This is a superb and reliable Aquilegia variety that makes an ideal cut flower, it grows and blooms well in shady areas. Excellent for rock gardens, perennial beds and borders. They are perfect for an informal or cottage garden environment. It is one plant that is guaranteed to create a stunning display.
Suitable for the perennial border, yet quite unique as a cut flower. Great woodland plant that does well under trees. Nice in containers. (15 seeds)
