Description
Archibald Knox was an internationally influential figure who attained success as the primary designer for Liberty & Co, however this piece is produced by Jennings Brothers of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
His designs merged Arts and Crafts, the Celtic Revival, Art Nouveau, and Modernism.
This is an excellent example of his design, which tends towards Arts & Crafts – and it is a wonderful functional piece.
This would have served as a tea/biscuit box, or tobacco humidor.
Unusual and collectible to have a Knox piece produced in Brass (and the U.S.A no less).
Stamped JB 2765.
Measures: 115w x 115d x 115h
Pickup is in Mount Eden Village.
