This substantial piece of freeform NZ Jade is from a private collection and is now on the collectors market for the first time in many years. Known as 'The Sentinel' this is an outstanding piece and its mere presence in the home or business demands attention. In recent years it has held station in the owners office foyer and formed the nucleus of many, many conversations and received compliments far too many to count. The front face is highly polished to reveal the greenstone heart of the rock formed over thousands of years in the Taramakau River (West Coast, NZ). The stone is jade categorised as Kokopu and in pre-eminent on the NZ Jade range. The speckled pattern resembles the skin of the kokopu trout with colours ranging from creamy whites, light greens to darker browns and olives. Its varied appearance gives it a distinct presence making it a cherished jade. The Stone is cradled in bronze fingers and mounted on a solid piece of hardwood.
