2006 BMW 130i M Sport
Description
A wolf in sheep's clothing, it's a good and bad thing that BMW 1 series all look alike. Once in a blue moon opportunity to own this gem with thousands of dollars spent on upgrades to make this a hilarious fun go-kart. Producing 265bhp and 315Nm of torque this A seriously fun yet practical hot hatch.
I've had compliments about the sound of the car, sounds better than some V8s. It emits a deep rumble and burble on startup and purrs contentedly at low revs but plant your foot for overtaking and the character of the car changes to reveal a trademark BMW wail at the top end, massive surge of power pushes you back in the seat. It's hilarious to pass cars like they're standing still. Downshifting with the paddle shifters will occasionally emit subtle pops and crackles from the exhaust.
Following the upgrades, turn in is immediate while the rear end of the car feels planted over mid corner bumps. Overall the car exhibits greater confidence through high speed corners. The damping has improved dramatically, gone is the crashiness over bumps and rough surfaces like railway lines.
PROS :D
- Upgraded with NEW Bilstein B6 suspension for better handling and damping on rough roads
- Upgraded with NEW hard duro subframe bushings kit
- Custom Y pipe - resonator delete (no drone just a deeper burble and subtle crackles)
- Serviced regularly with documented preventative maintenance work done on the perishables (due to the age of the vehicle) such as rubber hoses, seals, tensioner and belt, driveshaft union etc
- NEW battery registered and coded as per BMW procedure
- New rear tyres
- Electronically adjustable bolsters - more comfortable than Recaros and hold you in better
- Great bassy sounding factory stereo
- Dual zone climate control
- Full leather interior with heated seats
CONS ;(
- Small ding and scratch on the left rear quarter panel
- It's an automatic, real drivers cars are manual
